XF 2.3 Automatically Expanded Quotes

There are a few times where I want to force the entire block of text (quote) to be shown, without people having to click on a link to read the entire quote. I've searched the forum here and found the following link, but it's not working. I realize that this is five or six years old now, so perhaps something has changed?
