Automatically closing threads

I would like to close buy/sell threads without any postings for a fixed period of time, say 14 days, to be auto-closed. Is this possible to achieve? How to do this? The threads will all be in specific forum nodes.

What happens to closed threads? Do they get deleted? Or can they be recovered? Just my curiosity working.
