Normally when your preferences are set to Content Options: Automatically watch content you create… then as soon as the thread is created, the OP is watching the thread and of course notified of replies.
However this doesn't work when reports go to a forum and a thread is created by a user report, the reporter is not automatically set to watch, even though they are the thread starter.
You might think this doesn't matter because in a lot of cases admins would have set the report forum to private (admins and mods only) however this is by no means obligatory.
We have it set so the report forum and its content is viewable, and permissions allow users to view their own threads. This is great because it allows mods to have a dialogue with the user who has reported. However I've only just found out that the reporter doesn't get notified of our replies, which explains why we weren't getting many responses to our replies.
Is it possible this is not a bug but an undocumented feature? I can't see how, because it is just a thread (albeit automatically triggered by a report) and the thread starter should be watching it if that is how their preferences are set.
The workaround now is to mention or quote the OP, however they won't get email notifications (without an addon to do so).
