Yeah would LOVE to port ALL of my content from the ol' vB 3.8 horsey, but GOTTA preserve that Google page 2 - 3 placement for my little site out of 3 million pages!
That means >no< broken links and searchengine-keyword-rich links. XF is doing great in autogenerating great keyword rich links without an add-on and that's a HUGE plus...
just gotta not have any broken links and have solid redirects of the ol' vB content with no 404's!
Thats where i was.
So i deleted my giant database with millions of posts and thousands of users.
Next morning everyone showed up to the site to find there was nothing there but a fresh clean install of the latest XF with one or two addons.
They *****ed about their posts, about having to create new accounts (i should have at least saved the user accounts, doh), their pictures, their avatars, etc...
But after a few minutes playing around with all the cool features of xenforo and commenting on how the site seemed way more responsive with xF (and a fresh DB doesnt hurt), they quickly stopped talking about their old junk.

I had struggled with the idea originally.
Then i just said **** it.
Sure i lost some members probably.

Does this mean that i lose my google ranking as well since i just took down 8 years worth of content?

I didn't delete all my content. I archived it into a locked forum. People are still checking it out after 3 months of being XF live. Google is still crawling my stuff, and it's getting me some new users who are finding some of the more interesting threads.

The summary: Last released version sorta works. Some sites with title attributes show the title fine. Others don't. I cannot see consistency here.

We're using XF 1.1b5.

I was able to refine the oddities this way:

If you make a new thread and enter a URL in the first message, this add-on works properly. If you add a URL to any messages posted in response, it doesn't work. Sounds screwy to me, but that's what it's doing.

Installed this on 1.1 and it does not work. No errors but the links do not get converted either in a new topic or an existing topic. Even rebuilt the post cache.

For me it's still working fine with 1.1 but it seems that there where some changes.

i'll try to provide a update soon

ATTENTION: new versions requires XF 1.1.0 or higher!

post cache rebuild?
there's no such feature in xf?

BUT already existing posts won't be affected!
BEcause of better performance, this add-on changes the links before the post gets saved!

Thanks for update ragtek, well upgraded on 1.1.1 and it is working well with external URls

Not working with my own forums URls:
Thread URL: http://xfdomain.com/threads/automatic-url-aliases-automatic-url-conversion.20972/
Forum URL: http://xfdomain.com/forums/add-on-releases.32/
Profile URL: http://xfdomain.com/members/ragtek.82/

Working with:
http://xfdomain.com/
http://xfdomain.com/members/
http://xfdomain.com/help/
http://xfdomain.com/recent-activity/

Thanks for updating it so quickly. One thing I've noticed - links from Reuters get a "return" inserted and spread the link over two lines.
