Chris Deeming submitted a new resource:

Auto File Health Check (version 1.0) - Cron job that runs daily to automatically run the file health check. E-mails if issues found.

Thank you so much for donating. It is always appreciated!

I created this add-on due to an... incident at my site recently and it was the File Health Check that made me aware that something had gone awry.

At 4AM every day (default, configure the Cron Entry in the Admin CP) a Cron Entry runs that initiates the File Health Check process.

Once complete if any errors have been found, you will receive an e-mail like this:

You can configure the e-mail address the e-mail is sent to in Admin CP > Options > Email Options.

SOME LIMITATIONS
This does not check files created by add-ons, even those that have extended the file health check event.

You cannot exclude files. This means if you have edited files, you will always get e-mails saying the file contents are "mismatched".

Where possible you should always aim so that your File Health Check passes every time. If you have made code edits then have them made into an add-on. You could request this in the add-on request forum.

HOW TO INSTALL
The easiest way to install this add-on is if you use the Add-On Installer.

Alternatively:
  1. Download the zip file.
  2. Extract its contents to your hard drive.
  3. Upload the contents of the upload folder to the root of your XenForo installation.
  4. Complete install via the Admin CP using the provided XML file.

I hope that this add-on will be broadly adopted, so that Chris can expand the features, like a "white-list" files and so on.

For now, as always, incredible job by Chris.

Another great addon @Chris D

Would it be possible for this to create a thread in a specified forum (ie staff forum) rather than an email?

It only supports emails at the moment.

No immediate plans to work on this, but overall it would be quite simple to do if someone else wanted to take it on.

Probably not much point in updating this version considering most of Chris' add ons will get absorbed and included as core in 2.0, right? right? :cautious:
