During some recent maintenance, we found that we're storing a large number of old attachments. A lot of these are unavoidable, but enough can be removed to free up a fair amount of space. In particular, tens of thousands of old attachments are stored in years old conversations, which, due to the nature of our site, we can remove with little risk.
Our intention is to implement a new policy where conversation attachments expire after a year. Xenforo natively has the ability to search for these and we have found how to delete them—but the issue we have come across is that the only method we have found of doing so is manual, inefficient and will require us to do it ourselves on a schedule.
I've looked on the forums and resources, but haven't been able to find either an add-on or native function that would allow us to automate this (to be clear, we only want the attachments gone, not the conversations themselves). Is there a way to do so?
