XF 2.3 Attachments unassociated since 2.3.4

Yesterday I upgraded to 2.3.4. Since then attachments weren't displaying, not in posts, articles, link directory, nothing.

At first I thought it had to do with a 3rd party add on, since the admin panel would show this:



After uninstalling the job add on, the problem still persists. No attachment is displayed. The admin panel now shows this:

So, I'm guessing the 2.3.4 has a flaw in the attachments. Since there were no problems on 2.3.3 even with the 3rd party add on, which I have now uninstalled due to trying to troubleshoot.

Ok. So it seems the two issues are connected after all and was related to a change between 2.2.2 and 2.2.3.

However, the change was related not to anything to do with attachments but, rather, our JavaScript that provides multi-quote sorting. It seems the issue only shows up when multi-quote is used, and wasn't directly related to attachments hence why it was tricky to track down and didn't obviously show up when we were reviewing changes between 2.2.2 and 2.2.3.

This is fixed in XF 2.2.4 but we acknowledge that this may be causing some fairly significant issues.

XF 2.2 Thread 'Is anyone else missing attachments in posts?'

Has anyone else noticed posts with missing attachments?

We've received some reports from members who are confused as to why their attachments are missing in posts. They haven't been removed by staff and the members themselves haven't removed them either.

We're trying to get down to what the cause may be, so we're trying to see if anyone else has experienced such an issue.

There are no relevant changes to attachments or uploads in XF 2.3.4 that would account for this.

XF doesn't ever return a 520 status code, though that is something we commonly see associated with Cloudflare.

Interestingly there was a fix related to multi-quote but nothing that would affect attachments in this case.

We're also not seeing the same issue here, nor have we had any other reports of this.

Those attachments in your screenshot which are now unassociated would be as a result of uninstalling the add-on - we unassociate attachments when the relevant add-on is uninstalled.

So more troubleshooting is required here, probably investigating in the first instance the 520 error when uploading.

Because for the reasons mentioned, I do not believe it is a bug.

Are you still seeing a 520 error when you're uploading? Or when does this happen?

This only happened when I was uploading one of the attachments here on XF. Not on my board.

I want to add, that in the attachments browser I can only see attachments before the upgrade to 2.3.4



No pages, no going further.

My apologies to @Paul B and @Chris D - I just noticed my co admin told me this happened ever since I added the 3rd party add on - so the fault is with the developer, not XF.

I don't know if I'm losing my mind or not. But I had the following problem:
A few days ago, I installed this add on and we started noticing broken attachments. At first I thought it was due to the XF 2.3.4 upgrade, but checking prior messages between my co-admin and me, shows that this has been going on ever since adding this add on (apologies to XF for thinking this was a bug):

A member just reported that one of his posts from yesterday with one image disappeared. I checked and it is indeed not present. In the ACP I see the image but it is "unassociated". So the system sees the image but it's not on the board and it's not (mirrored) in the gallery. Never seen this before. We went to XF 2.3.4 on 1 March.

If this is related to an add-on then I have no idea which one. There's nothing in the logs that I can find.

It happened with just one attachment, second day after the XF upgrade. I am on Cloud hosting and I can't find anything in the logs that I have. Only thing I do know is that in 15 months of working with XF this is the first time it happened.
