At what point were you not clueless anymore?

Seeing an increasing number of threads of type my-forum-of-5-posts-is-dying-help I've been getting a tad tired of the complexity of the question (not here, but on admin fora in general).

This brought me to wonder, at what point, as a new admin were we not entirely clueless anymore? 10 000 posts? 20 000? 50 000?

Or is it a particular type of event that marks progress from the baby-admin stage to the next, e.g., putting down a revolt or two, etc?

I was on enough early internet email lists to know the various styles of moderation - so I was not surprised by anything that came along. There are several styles - all of which work, because...in the end....we have the powerful buttons!
