XF 2.3 any reason why a third party style starts scrolling really slowly/choppily?

Speed and responsiveness are always important to me on my forum. But I've noticed more than once my forum scrolls really choppily with a lot of lag. It's a fairly customized third-party style that is sadly no longer supported.

AdminCP is very fast as is the default theme.

What can I do? Is there a way to see if it's the theme? It doesn't do this all the time, but it's been more than once, and I'm getting annoyed. It's fairly outdated, and I'm considering something more modern. It looks really cool, which is why I'm hesitant. But I just can't accept it being so slow and choppy.

Thanks for any feedback!

I'm guessing you could set the default theme as the main one just to test it out? That is kind of the issue with xenforo themes. At the moment I'm building a new forum with xenforo and I've played around a bit with themes. End decision is that I will use the default one. Doesn't look good for everyone but for some reason my eyes like it a lot.

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I tested the default theme, and it was extremely fast, as I expected. Plus, my forum runs on a high end, dedicated server with tonnes of resources, so it shouldn't be that.

So I'm pretty decided on DohTheme's "Alt"! 😁

What's your new forum about, and is this your first time using Xenforo? Let me know if you need any help. I've used XF almost since Beta! :D

I'm actually building an automotive forum becouse I don't see much of them that work and I think xenforo for that purpose checks all the boxes.
Not my first time having my hands on the software but my first time using it for my own project. Thanks though 🙋

P.S. Is there a live demo for the Alt theme?

Sure, no worries.

Yes, check it out: https://dohtheme.com/demo/xf2/index.php :D

Must be thousands of them on the Verticalscope Fora platform.
That's exactly the problem though. There are thousands of forums, but very few still feel like real communities. Most are overloaded with ads, have outdated UX, or lack active moderation. I'm trying to build something that focuses on quality, speed, and a better user experience.
