Hey,

I moved my Forum from a webspace to a vserver. Database and database accs are the same. Other CMSs working fine.

What could be the issue ?

I increased it in the php config to 8mb and the import file is 5.6 MB

Check the backup file and make sure that it is made properly. Otherwise make a new backup.

5.6MB is very small for a backup.

If the problem is due to too many tables, make incremental backups, splitting it up into three or four files.

ok, exporting it with mysql dumper right now and gonna import it with phpmyadmin.

its 8mb now as gzip
phpmyadmin was only working for half of the tables.

mysql -u mysqluser -p databasename < databasebackup.sql

works fine

Is it normal that the import of a 80mb.sql takes +3 hours ?

You should be contacting your host, they are the ones best suited to help you with server issues.

I get this problem about 3-4 times a day and it usually only lasts for 2-3 minutes.
the only detail I can get (or know how to get) tells me its the 'generic' error 500.

Is there some place I can check things like database files etc that i SHOULD have so I can work out if I am missing something? Or any other checks that can be done to eliminate the obvious (if there is such a thing!)

Check your actual server logs (not in the ACP). 500 errors are the worst things ever to debug.

OK will check - I have just been looking at the reports from my server monitoring service but they just show the same... 'unexpected database error...'
will dive into cpanel!

in cpanel the error logs tell me my robots.txt file does not exist (ouch!) Must have been like that from day 1 with an error being thrown every time its called! Could this be the cause of intermittent issues like the one in the heading of this thread?

Should I put my robots.txt file in the forum root?

A missing robots.txt shouldn't cause a 500 error. Do you see any actual errors in the log? Can you copy/paste it?

The error described in this thread happened to me at 9.02pm UK time and 9.07pm UK time.
The ones highlighted later in blue are fine - its just I hadn't updated my new IP address to my .htaccess file for the dev site.

Other than that the only thing I have are robots.txt errors

None of them should be causing a 500 (if anything a 403 Unauthorized for the first 2 and 404 Not Found for the rest).

The '500 Internal Server Error' was reported by the server monitoring company.

The logs above are directly from my server.

Nothing shows up during the times where the issues occured.

Yeah, without being able to constantly replicate to debug this, it'll be hard to pin point a specific cause to rectify.

Its an odd one - page source says nothing, logs don't show anything. It does happen every day though.

It took a few minutes to do a 250MB import via mysql on mine.
