XF 1.5 All posts already read even though I didn't read them

I have a user that has reported an issue below. Everything is working fine for me and others I've asked, but not sure how to resolve this issue. Any ideas? Thanks.

Since a few months, all forums show up as if there are no unread items when I'm signed in:

(solved cube means no unread posts)

"New Posts" always shows as 0:

This is the case across multiple computers, and only when I'm signed in.
When I browse in an incognito window, I see:

I'm using the Unread Posts Count addon, and it is up to date. This issue has only be reported by that 1 user so far. What can I have him do to troubleshoot?

Have them try with a different browser and disable any add-ons that they may be using in their current one?
Have them also check their developer console of their browser to see if it is showing any errors by chance.

He said it happens in Firefox and it happens if he logs in via Incognito in Chrome (without extensions).

The console is always full of stuff for our domain, but I haven't seen anything that seems particularly likely to cause this:

If it's one user only and you or others can't reproduce it, then it's going to be user error, some other local issue to them, or (unlikely) an add-on involved.

There's only been one user mention it. The fact that he tried in multiple browsers logged in with the same issue is odd. Any suggestions on how to get him to troubleshoot? Thanks.

Are they by chance running any anti-virus on their computer that also monitors the network traffic live? I have seen a few of those that have caused weird issues in the past.
