Cannot reproduce Album thumbnails may need rebuilding after watermark change

As above, album thumbnails may become 404 after the contents of an album have had a watermark added.

Current work around is to rebuild the thumbnails either in Admin CP > Applications > Gallery Rebuilds or individually for each Album using the "Change Album Thumbnail" option when viewing an album.
