I have found XF web where all paid addons listed free, even updated ones!

is there any way to protect addon in future against copying them?

developers work hard, some bunch of idiots giving them for free

Don't give them any publicity. Their audience isn't great either. All just people wanting to download stuff, and in the end, the forum owners are just pity slaves of that audience. Like, who wants to keep updating every resource for free?

Sure, some ask a subscription, but they're often so expensive, it's better to purchase from the genuine developer. So, in the end, they're slaves of their own system. The joke is on them.

The only thing you can do is protect your php code with ioncube, zend, or source guardian and try to hide the licensing so that they can't change the code for free sites. Probably ways around it though.

yes, there is a way, but need to work hard

1. make addon installable direct via admin panel, not donwloadable file
2. make payment system accepted only by XF team
3. generate activation code & bind it to domain name
4. encrypt that directory with ioncube

long time ago I did try envision demo, there was direct shop page in their admin panel

Bitrix cms uses this method, you purchase addon, pay for it, after you get activation code, activating that code donwloads addon directly.

I don’t think that is feasible - wouldn’t it make xenForo legally responsible for 3rd party addons they have no control over?
With a solid ToS, I don't think so.

What can you do to Google if a malicious app makes it to the Play Store? Sure, they have great checks, but there are apps that force permissions that you don't want to enable for an app, say microphone for a calculator. You could easily disable it, but it could also make the app unusable if it's disabled (or prompt you to enable it over and over, not sure).

As a customer of many reputable add on developers, both for their products and private services, I would support this if XF implemented it and the developers were also on board. I hate to see them not maximize their profits (though, maybe if the add ons didn't exist, the pirates would use use MyBB or something and it be moot).
