XF 1.5 Adding a forum back to "New Posts" on an individual user basis

There is a specific forum on my website that is hated by many forum members. However, some love it.

I have had to remove it from "New Posts" searches because so many members did not want to see threads from it in their "New Posts" searches.

Is there an easy way for those who want it back in their "New Posts" searches to add it back manually, or is this a custom coding job?

A new user group for those who want it back in their "New Posts" searches or something?

For XF 2, this one works very well:

It gives your members the choice of what they want to see, so you don't need to get caught in the middle.

The only issue I have now is how to show different "New Post" search results to different user groups by including the one forum I mentioned which isn't displayed by default. You wouldn't happen to know how to do this would you?
