Imagine fellow board members 'liking' your profile - would it not make you feel more connected to the community? Something that you can flaunt and be proud of? I bet our users would tend to be more useful in their posts just to make sure that many people like 'them' and not just their 'posts'.
If that does not look like a good idea: how about displaying total likes received in the profile along with the user name?
People need something they can flaunt.
