    I have a top bar on pretty much my entire website. The main navigator. A typical top bar found all around the net, created with a php file. I want to add that top bar on the xenForo forum, so users can navigate all around my website.

    What is the best way to achieve that?

    This template holds the HTML skeleton:

    Admin CP -> Appearance -> Templates -> PAGE_CONTAINER

    You can add your top bar there.

    Thanks Jake. I was looking at this video...
    http://xenforo.com/community/threads/how-to-use-template-hooks.13167/

    ... and was wondering if i should use a hook to insert my top bar or insert it directly in the template you've mentioned above.

    Either way. A hook may save you having to update custom templates in the future. Though the hook system has been deprecated in favor of the template modification system which is more versatile:

    Admin CP -> Appearance -> Template Modifications
