Design issue A lot of Alerts

Sort of a bug.

I haven't visited this forum for a long time and when I came back yesterday and logged in, it said there were 31 alerts. In the tiny red notice top right.

But when I clicked on the alerts-button is said: "You have no new alerts". The 31 alerts are nowhere to be found. And the red number on the button disappeared.

(Missing out on the alerts is no big problem.)

The number of alerts a user has is cached. Alerts expire after a period of time. The count is only recalculated when you access alerts for the first time.

There's not really an ideal way around it short of routinely cycling through all unviewed alerts periodically.
