Hi. We are looking at using XenFono for our forum. Having been familiar with it on these sites Uk business forum and digital point that I believe uses XenFono.

I have a few questions, and I was hoping someone might be able to answer them for me. Many thanks.

    Anonymous posting.
No member information on a post or new thread. This can be activated by maybe ticking a box when composing the message.
    Found this: https://xenforo.com/community/threads/anonymous-posts-and-threads-by-waindigo.68600/

    Thanks and like
Thanks and thumbs up features. Might be nice to have custom buttons like “lol”.

    Market place
Used for advertising second hand products for sale.
    Eg: https://marketplace.digitalpoint.com/ebooks.4/category

Can you change the Price and Free Updates bit to Location and Delivery?

    Members access
If I want to set certain forums to not be accessible to certain members does this remove the forum title completed or does it stay but just shown as private, like this:

    Events / calender - https://xenforo.com/community/resources/calendar.2675/
    Skin - http://www.xenfocus.com/skins/executive/index.php
Are the plugins easy to install or would I need a developer? I only know html and ccs.

So I will need the licence, resources, and installation services.
After paying the for the licence for year 1, if I want support after this then its $140 a year right?
Is the resources $60 a year or just a one off?

    Sign up page changes:
    Can we customize this message?
This is the name that will be shown with your messages. You may use any name you wish. Once set, this cannot be changed.
    And this bit
Enter your password in the first box and confirm it in the second.
Can we put a similar message under the email field?

Take off the gender , DOB and Verification captcha thing too?

Can top links be made links to other pages outside of the forum. Like the Buy Xenforo is link here:

If I need some help installing plugins and making changes, is there a place on the community forum to find developers?

    Try Post Ratings:

There's no official classifieds for XF. The Digital Point marketplace is custom.

I have created a forum-style classifieds system using a couple plugins to make it look more like a marketplace...

You can check the link in my signature to see what it looks like,

You could let them see the forum, but not see anything inside. Or you could hide the forum entirely.

Plugins are extremely simple to install - just upload files and click the install button in the control panel.

You can change any templates easily if you're even a little familiar with HTML and/or CSS.

Yes, either directly in the template or by a plugin such as Nodes As Tabs.

There are lots of developers for hire in the forum... and a lot of people who will help you out for free :)

I suggest making a Classifieds category and let your members post regular threads. Here's an example of how I do it on my forum:

The trick is to set the permissions so the classified forums can be edited indefinitely, that way the original poster can update the thread title or their posts as needed. Also I use two add-ons for the classified forums:

    Auto Delete v1.4

    New Thread Email v1.4

Great thanks a lot for all your help!

Btw, I got an email notification for the first couple of replies but not all of them. I haven't changed any settings so just wondering why I didn't get an email for all replies?

If you are talking about in the forum here, you will get an email for the first reply.. but not for subsequent ones until you have visited the thread again, then upon the next reply 1 email alert.

Ok I see. That's exactly what happened. Can these settings be changed?

Not that I know of.. there may be an add-on to do it, but there is not built in ability to get notifications after every new post (that could overload a LOT of forum mail servers that are large).
