I know we can obviously add/remove reactions for our forums, I just think it would be nice if there was a default Thanks, that way it would be here on xenForo and we could thank the developers for their excellent support. @Chris D and @Mike are so relentlessly and patiently helpful a more "like" is not enough, and possibly "love" is going a bit too far. Not to mention all the addon devs who also need thanking.

So a dedicated thanks reaction is my suggestion of the week.

It depends how you look at it. For me, reactions are context sensitive. And that kind of fits with our philosophy of not wanting to include any negative reactions in the core.

If I help someone and they give me a Like I assume that's their way of saying "Thanks" without having to actually type it. If they use "Love" then I kind of take that as "super thanks!" rather than implying any sort of romantic feeling (at least I hope it doesn't imply that 😏).

Likewise if I post something terrible, then I assume that in that case a "Sad" or "Angry" or even a "Wow" reaction actually has negative connotations. But then if I post something genuinely sad (such as a link to a sad news article), I'll assume that "Sad" doesn't imply that I've made that person sad, but the content I linked to is.

So, for me, a "Thanks" reaction is kind of superfluous.

To get more likes, you should consider posting "bug fixed messages" (example) with the developer's account instead of using the generic @XF Bug Bot account. 😁

On a more serious note, I'd really appreciate that. I see the need for automating those messages but it'd be great if they were posted by the committer's / developer's account. That would require a mapping from GitHub to XenForo users but it would make those messages feel less... I don't know... maybe "anonymous" is the right word.

I only use "Love" when I truly love the person I'm reacting too.

When I feel that our relationship has reached a point that I'm no longer ashamed to proclaim my love of their content in that given community.

When it gets to the point where I'm game for meeting them in a private node to proclaim my love and admiration for their back end development in the gym.

That is what that reaction is supposed to be used for, right? 🤨🤔

I also occasionally use funny when something doesn't read right. Kind of like when something smells a bit funny. 👃

I might be using reactions wrong.

Twitter has the "Like" when you hover but displays a heart when you click. Entrapment! Making us all look more sensitive than we actually are! :D I like the options XF offers.
