2x computers down with a virus/keylogger

Still using some computers I bought then today. All the ones with either vista or virus programs I bought after that time died. The reset are all fresh.

What virus program was that? There are malware that pretend to be anti-virus, and from what you say it sounds like one of those.

I believe it was one of the main-steam ones. Norton or MCafee or something. Think about Mcafee himself, he is on the run for murder charges. Not the kind of guy I like to buy virus programs from.

Hm, in that case no idea what happened there. If you are not sure, though, I am also thinking it may have been something that sounded legitimate, as those fake anti-virus programs use generic, harmless sounding names like MS Antivirus and Green Antivirus, and there are fake anti-virus programs that go a little further by copying the image and name, like E-SET Antivirus (not to be confused with ESET NOD32 Antivirus).

From what I remember I downloaded an upgrade to the virus program which came with the PC itself.

Back then antivirus programs were written poorly. They are better now.
