You said in the thread to let you guys know if it works fine in abdroid. Doesn't seem right TBH. I have screenshotted but the software doesn't show the notch or anything so it's hard to showcase unless I knew hoe to demonstrate it with a mock phone like you did on the HYS thread.

Here is what it kinda does.

I can see where the "notch" should be in that image, and I can see that it's hidden by making that entire section blacked out.

Can you find an option anywhere to not hide the notch?

The changes in that HYS really only apply to any devices which don't attempt to hide the notch.

If they hide the notch, then there's not really anything we can do.

Hmm. I'll try. Still getting used to my new phone.

As far as I can tell even with Dev mode know, j can't force it when I go landscape to use the notch unless it's hidden somewhere eksem. Some quick research reveals that Google is planning to release an update in the forseeable future addressing the notch and landscape mode in particular and giving people proper hiding options and other interactions as the display cutout settings in the hidden Dev mode are actually just sitting people can see what other phones see.

I assume you are using a popular emulator to Helo design?

Something like genymotion I assume? As of October 31st, they support simulating a pixel 3 and 3 xl.

We use BrowserStack which is what you saw in that HYS post. It's not actually an emulator, it actually streams the output from a real device. Only problem is they don't support the Pixel 3 yet.

My understanding was that Pixel 3 has a notch, it runs Android P / Android 9 and alongside that the latest Chrome version supports basically the same CSS as the iPhone X but obviously it only applies if the notch is visible.

I'll keep poking at it, hard to test the notch stuff when it vanishes in landscape mode.
