Fixed "Edit own thread title" permission is badly named

The "Edit own thread title" permission is really "Edit own thread" as it allows editing a bunch of non-title properties. This appears to be a holdover from XF1.x

Dropping the "title" from the permission text probably makes a lot more sense

I think Edit own thread, would make me think that I could edit all post in the thread.

I would like that kind of permission for a blog-like forum.

Maybe something like "Edit own thread start" would be better?

I think "Edit own thread" is sufficient. If it's a little misleading for some, they'll quickly learn better.

Thank you for reporting this issue, it has now been resolved. We are aiming to include any changes that have been made in a future XF release (2.2.7).

Change log:

Change "Edit own thread title" permission to "Edit own thread" as this permission allows multiple thread properties to be edited.

There may be a delay before changes are rolled out to the XenForo Community.

We've changed this now but note that the permission ID is still editOwnThreadTitle as changing permission IDs can be a little bit dicey given that there could be add-ons who rely on that permission currently to be named in that way.

The ID could be changed in a future version.

What exactly does this permission cover besides editing the thread title?

Thread prefix, and custom thread fields mainly.

Theoretically add-on developers could add their own functionality here too.
