Message Elements are displayed although of the fact that they are turned off in settings.

Which message elements specifically?
What style are you using? Are you sure you've turned them off on the correct style (rather than the Master Style or another style or a child style)?
As you can see it's working fine on all styles here and I just had a quick test on my own site and it's working fine. This suggests something locally is wrong.
Have you made any changes to your message_user_info template?
