Features:
  • Option to exclude secondary user groups.
  • All phrases start with mostposts_ for your convenience.
Creating the widget:
  1. Admin Control Panel -> Appearance -> Widgets
  2. Widget definition = Most posts
  3. Widget key = most_posts
  4. Title = (leave blank)
  5. Display in positions = Forum list: Sidebar
  6. Click Save.
User group permissions:

Normally you will select Yes to the following User groups:

Registered
Unregistered / Unconfirmed

Cron entries:

This add-on updates the widget every hour. When you first install the add-on please run the Cron entries manually in order to see the widget:

Admin control panel -> Tools -> Cron entries -> Most posts

Questions and Answers:

Q: When do the post count numbers update?
A: They are updated once per hour by Cron entry.

Another favorite widget for my forum, makes it easy to see who the biggest contributors to the forum are every week, and if any newcomers are in the list each week!
I used an addon like this in XF 1 and was happy to see it available for XF 2. I like the styling of the widget and didn't feel like I had to "fix it" at all. Also I've found that this does encourage people to post because they like to see their avatar up there. I had no problems on the install either.
