Eggy Thread Gallery - Turn images across an entire thread into one interactive gallery.

🎁 Free for a limited time
Eggy Thread Gallery is currently available free during its initial release period. It is planned to become a paid add-on later, so grab it while it’s free.

Eggy Thread Gallery turns the images posted throughout a XenForo discussion into a complete, browsable gallery — without creating a separate media library.

Instead of working through page after page of a long thread to find photographs or images, members can open Thread Gallery...

Some people might like "Image only" threads.

It's really weird.

Two easy "Thread types" are:
Image only
Resource

Most people don't need the Resource Manager, nor the Media Gallery.
Both products suffer from the isolation of being way from the action of the forums (what's new etc.)

Obviously Xenforo needs actual Pages .... so that is an obvious need.

Hopefully TipTap brings a new stability to Xenforo and we see more development.
TipTap pages are likely beyond what Xenforo needs.

Consider making an "Image only" thread type.

Although a big flaw in the ointment is you can only have one thread type per forum or something.
Seems super restrictive to me.

That is great feedback. I'll make a tweak and release an update based on that

I had an idea back in the day for allowing a forum where each thread was a user's own gallery.

One thing is clear, images are important to a community and most communities don't benefit from isolating those images in another tab called Media.

I completely agree! Images are part of the conversation, so keeping them in the forum makes much more sense than pushing them off into a separate Media area. That doesn't really seem needed, however your feedback has actually given me the direction for the next update so thank you :-D

1.0.1 - Image Threads

How Image Threads work

  • The opening post must contain at least one image.
  • Every reply must also contain at least one image.
  • Text-only replies are rejected.
  • Text can still be added alongside an image for captions or context.
  • Uploaded attachments and externally embedded images are supported.
  • Every image posted is automatically added to the Thread Gallery.

This creates an image-first discussion where every contribution adds to the gallery while keeping...

Hi,

this is a great-addon! :) Thanks!

How does it perform on a little bigger boards? Like if there are not 500 images in a thread, but 500 000 ?

Maybe an adjustable pagination for /thread.123456/gallery would be great, so that just 100 or 500 or whatever cutsomizable number is shown on one page.

So pagination would be awesome to show all of them.

And maybe with restrictions and rights which usergroup can view them (pagination and gallery)

Thanks, glad you like it 🙂

With something extreme like 500,000 images in one thread, pagination would definitely make more sense than trying to load the whole gallery at once. At that size it is not just the database side of things, the browser would also be handling a huge amount of gallery content.

An adjustable images per page option for /threads/123456/gallery is a good idea, especially for larger boards.

I can add this very soon as a minor update, with a configurable limit so admins can choose something like 100, 250 or 500 images per page depending on what suits their site best.

That should make very large gallery threads much more manageable without changing anything for smaller ones.

Thanks for the suggestion 🙂

Hi! I found a bug: when the add‑on is enabled, other attachments like Word, Excel, PDF and so on are not visible in the topics at all. Could you check it, please?
