What Should I Advertise on My Forum?

Can anyone recommend websites or ad networks that pay for article placements and banner ads?

I'm looking for alternatives to Google Ads.

Thanks!

I just went directly to vendors within the niche of my forum, and bill them directly. Most of them opt for a prepaid 2 year contract.

The banners are randomly rotated at the top and bottom of all pages, and after every 5th post. I use an add-on called Siropu Ads Manager, and it works amazingly well. It collects payments, handles discounts for longer terms and coupons, manages expiration dates, tracks clicks and impressions and lets the advertisers check them or maintain their banner at any time, etc.

I also use the advertising system to market potentional advertisers directly, with targeted banners that only they see. (with the same banner system, that reacts based on which usergroups I have them added to) When an avertiser is "live", the software puts them another active advertiser group, which I have tied into a usergroup banner that shows on their posts as an active sponsor. It also targets the live ones with special ads that thank them and give them instructions if they want to see their stats, change their banner/keywords/link.

I have only been using this setup for 6 1/2 years, but very pleased with it. Previously we did similar, but manually with fixed positions for each advertiser. The forum completes its 29th year next week.

I also use the same system with special usergroup specific banners in the rotation to thank donors, and to rotate the current holiday images on the top right column of the main page of our forum. Some banners have code to customize themselves for certain holidays, which are fairly easy to set up with the help of AI. (special wording by date ranges, random color changing backgrounds or images, etc)

I use it again for special targeted banners for those in the UNREGISTERED/GUEST group, encouraging them to register for full access.

Mike
