Issue has been resolved. The problem was regarding disk space on the partition being higher than 90% and ElasticSearch doing some funky stuff with shards. Freeing up space fixed the issue.

Sorry to bump this thread but this is the only one I could see relating to this issue. We are currently getting this issue about 90% of the time when trying to delete posts. Both soft delete and permanent deleting often fails and shows the error pasted below. We are using Xenforo 1.5.10...

Good call on the caching. It could very well be that as we do use Incapsula CDN. By upgrade files I meant the upgrade package from the customer area. I will disable caching and get back with further updates. Thanks a lot.

We are caching everything at the moment. However, just realised the issue, and it is network related. Asking my host to reconfigure the private network as ping times between the web server and sql server are fluctuating like crazy.

Is is possible to disallow a user group from being able to use BBCode to change their text color? I'm aware that the 'Persistent Color' permission shows or hides the color picker button, but even with this disabled they can still use coloured text with a BBCode.

The issue was resolved by upgrading to the latest ElasticSearch. It seems that a shellshock vulnerability was causing this issue and was potentially using the server as a zombie to DDoS. Thanks for the reply though. I urge anyone using 1.4.2 or lower to upgrade to the latest 1.4.5+
