As an alternative - the system should refuse to paste/img-src them with a warning that they are private/ephemeral. at least the unwary forum member won't work up a great post only to have it cannon-balled by pics that didn't embed.

I did a bad job of explaining the behavior change. Before the latest update, when an image from google photos was copied and pasted into a post, the forum software would upload the image to our site, then automatically attach the full image to the post. The new action is to source the image...
