I've been visiting the forums for a couple of months now, checking in to see what's happening in the Xenforo ecosystem because I'm not happy with how some of its competitors have really honed in on SaaS cloud hosting with insane markups. But it seems like there's no updates on the big XF upgrade...
I think WinSCP is the recommended free FTP program now because of FileZilla's sketchy install https://winscp.net/eng/index.php
I'm not a cPanel fan though. Haven't seen any good progress after they were bought out.
I'm probably in the minority, but I don't like how Discourse looks or functions. Much prefer XF, so that's why I'd like to see some great news from the devs about the progress on ver 3.
Thanks. That sounds like what an LLM would point out. The most basic integration would simply be single sign-on, which doesn't mean the systems need to be created the same way or with the same goals. A plugin to pull in thread replies as comments and post news articles as a new thread also don't...
I've always found it very surprising that XenForo and other forum softwares don't provide integrations for WordPress out of the box. With 35-40% of websites running on WP, you'd think it would be a great selling point to have a forum system that was plug and play with your existing site...
What kind of scares me is that the vBulletin staff are actually active and answering questions on their customer forum. I don't really see that here 😔 Stuck wondering what to start with but each platform seems to have some sort of questionable future for self-hosted options. Specifying...
I would like to create a heavily community-focused website that has a front page with news articles. Can XenForo, with or without addons, support that type of setup, with the blog kind of being the "front" of the site?
I saw there is a portal plugin like this...
I'm also worried about IPS. I get the feeling 5.0 may be last version for self hosted people and they seem very hostile to their self hosted customers.
I'm kind of confused on why there have been no real innovations in the forum space and everything basically feels like it's 2016 still. Came on here to see if there was going to be a major new version coming soon.
