ALWAYS Save a Site Backup To Your Computer!

Fair enough. The World Trade Center had security guards and alarm systems, probably some of the best. The Pentagon is a freaking prison, you can't get in or out without passing rigorous security clearance and military guys with guns. I'm sure you'll recall what happened. Calling someone...

ALWAYS Save a Site Backup To Your Computer!

I'd like to know the significance of this finding. Specifically, what part of a datacenter being miles away (yet within the same country) of the business/individual who owns the servers raises concerns? I'm sure most "resellers" (or, more correct in this case, co-locators) are not even within...

    Barefooting

To be honest, I've always found it strange that people even wear shoes inside of houses. The first time I saw this, I was baffled. Where I live, it's not common to barefoot outdoors, but I never understood why people get the urge to wear shoes inside.

Is it realistic to set-up a new forum and work full time?

How long did it take to make that $20,000? Anything longer than a year, and I would have made more in a year working as a cashier at a grocery store than he did.

Is it realistic to set-up a new forum and work full time?

He never said non-forum sites do or don't perform better than forums, so that argument is pretty weak. He just stated that forums are like small businesses, where a lot of people start one (or try), but most fail before their first year. It's true. Just buying a vB/IPB license and submitting...

[Suggestion] Operating hours for a forum

Exactly! And if the mod/plugin system is built in a way that developers can quickly and easily hook into it, then you can get these small features that people keep suggesting, without turning the core software into a massive vB/HP/Dell bloat-boat.

Is it realistic to set-up a new forum and work full time?

There are very few forums making enough money to call it a full-time job, and those took years and a lot of labor to get to that point. Running a forum alone is almost never a viable business plan, and I don't think that's what forums are meant for anyway. As stated multiple times here, they...

    XenForo - destroyed by vBulletin?

That's what I told him. Not even exaggerating, there's no other vB4 site like it.

    XenForo - destroyed by vBulletin?

I want to see it too. Can you just post it or something?

    XenForo - destroyed by vBulletin?

The best part about XF is not only that it's clean and simple, but (from what the devs have told/shown us) it's easily expandable and customizable, so those who want more can add to it if they want.

    DIASPORA: The NEW Social Network

Then you didn't listen to Google when they said this was meant to replace email? I don't see how an email replacement is supposed to replace social networking? Two different beasteses here.

    XenForo - destroyed by vBulletin?

You're looking at this all wrong. Everyone has to start somewhere. Even if it fails, they can chalk it up as one more experience under the belt for security. Just because vB is big now, doesn't mean they'll always be in that position. Facebook started off with just a few exclusive people at...

    OMG I'm soooo hot.......

Then 74, then 66.... :D Weather Channel Desktop says 93 right now, though it's not as bad since I turned the fan in my room to blow air OUT of the window, essentially creating a [minimal] airflow of cold air from the A/C up front. I really need to make one of those DIY air conditioners that I...

    which mobile OS are you?

Because it's geeky. Google admits the UI isn't as smooth or intuitive as it should be, but version 3.0 (Gingerbread) will have a complete UI overhaul, so hopefully it'll be more like Apple's in terms of ease-of-use.
