I realise that's something that has to be asked, and to be honest I should have mentioned it but yes it is, I've been doing this a while, not that silly :)

I've also just discovered that the forums have actually been created (even though the page stays as it is and gives no indication that they've been created), and although they appear in the admin node tree, they aren't appearing on the forum itself..

it appears I was missing the install-lock file.. I uploaded the upgrade package but as I said before I had an aborted upgrade a attempt previously and it appears I may have lost the install-lock file during that.. Thanks will give it a another try..

Using debian Wheezy with dotdeb php5.5 packages here and I found removing php5-xdebug fixed the problem immediately.
