Last time i looked at gravitar, it auto generated an avatar based on your email address. One of my admins wrote a similar script for vbulletin but it never got deployed/released.
From what i've gathered from released snippets you implement a class (presumable inheriting from some XF class) which implements one or more methods. You then register your class + method with XF for it to execute it at the right time.
My money is on it starting off at the tried and tested $160 that vBulletin was sold at for so many years. Raising in price only when CMS, Gallery and Blogs are added.
There will probably be a discount for the first week or two of sales
I'm curious as to the history of XenForo...
What made you decided to start up a new forum software?
When did you decided to start it?
How long has it been in development?
Where are you basing development?
Who decided to start it up or was it a joint decision?
Why the name XenForo?
I think I figured out what the downside is.
Had IB not come along and purchased vBulletin; all the awesome things you like here would have been in vBulletin 4 or 4.1 now that's a downside. . .
Could ajaxify the loading of the next page in the thread.
Its something on a lot of sites that when you scroll nearly to the end of the page it starts loading the next set of messages.
not my browsers, browsershots is a website where you can request screencaps of a site in lots of different browsers - they are provided by lots of different people.
Couldn't agree more.
I doubt i'll be converting any of my forums yet but as soon as a CMS is out either officially or as a community addon its going to be hard not to.
