vBulletin Big Board Importer [vBulletin 3 + vBulletin 4] [Paid] 1.5.0

No permission to buy ($150.00)
To be honest, for $150 I expect a full importer of everything and not having to **** around with more than one importer to get everything imported. For my purposes importing albums and blogs as threads would be good enough at least as a temporary solution and far preferential to not importing this content at all.

I would pay a lot more than 150 to import 13 million posts in 2 hours vs 3-4 DAYS with other importers. Just sayin :) if u don't need the speed, don't pay for it.

Why not just use this importer to import everything else and then import blogs into a blogs addon, import albums into a gallery addon and import groups into a groups addon?
That would make much more sense to me than importing those as threads.

You could use this importer:

http://xenforo.com/community/resources/vb4-importer.1025/

It does albums, blogs, articles, and social groups as threads. But it is a web-based importer so it's not suitable for extremely large forums like this importer is.

Doesn't help me since the forum I want to import is 3.8... which this importer does directly (no, I really don't want to go through the 4.x "upgrade", ugh). Unfortunately there are snags like that with each of the three importers. But since this one costs $150 it's reasonable to expect that it would import everything. Yes, social groups and "thanks" too, in case they're currently not imported either.

Heck, you're the author of all that stuff in the other importer, aren't you? Can't you just copy all those parts over to this importer to offer us the whole package?

Well, I'm sure with a board that size you can afford to pay far more, the board I want to convert isn't THAT large...

That would make much more sense to me than importing those as threads.

I'm probably going to nix blogs altogether or just use the forum functionality for it, the gallery addon that I'd want to use hasn't been made yet and groups are such a miss of a concept that I definitely don't want to drag them over to XenForo and want that legacy content as threads instead.

That's why...

About 800k posts and like I mentioned previously I'm not looking at this importer just for the sake of the import speed but rather all the other features of it - like 3.8 import support for example. My ideal importer would be a combination of this importer and Jake's since I could import everything in one go with the minimum amount of hassle.

It says the same thing all the files.
Except User.txt. How do I fix it?

Usage: mysql [OPTIONS] [database]
-?, --help Display this help and exit.
-I, --help Synonym for -?
--auto-rehash Enable automatic rehashing. One doesn't need to use
'rehash' to get table and field completion, but startup
and reconnecting may take a longer time. Disable with
--disable-auto-rehash.
(Defaults to on; use --skip-auto-rehash to disable.)
-A, --no-auto-rehash
No automatic rehashing. One has to use 'rehash' to get
table and field completion. This gives a quicker start of
mysql and disables rehashing on reconnect.
--auto-vertical-output
Automatically switch to vertical output mode if the
result is wider than the terminal width.
-B, --batch Don't use history file. Disable interactive behavior.
(Enables --silent.)
--character-sets-dir=name
Directory for character set files.
--column-type-info Display column type information.
-c, --comments Preserve comments. Send comments to the server. The
default is --skip-comments (discard comments), enable
with --comments.
-C, --compress Use compression in server/client protocol.
-#, --debug[=#] This is a non-debug version. Catch this and exit.
--debug-check Check memory and open file usage at exit.
-T, --debug-info Print some debug info at exit.
-D, --database=name Database to use.
--default-character-set=name
Set the default character set.
--delimiter=name Delimiter to be used.
--enable-cleartext-plugin
Enable/disable the clear text authentication plugin.
-e, --execute=name Execute command and quit. (Disables --force and history
file.)
-E, --vertical Print the output of a query (rows) vertically.
-f, --force Continue even if we get an SQL error.
-G, --named-commands
Enable named commands. Named commands mean this program's
internal commands; see mysql> help . When enabled, the
named commands can be used from any line of the query,
otherwise only from the first line, before an enter.
Disable with --disable-named-commands. This option is
disabled by default.
-i, --ignore-spaces Ignore space after function names.
--init-command=name SQL Command to execute when connecting to MySQL server.
Will automatically be re-executed when reconnecting.
--local-infile Enable/disable LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE.
-b, --no-beep Turn off beep on error.
-h, --host=name Connect to host.
-H, --html Produce HTML output.
-X, --xml Produce XML output.
--line-numbers Write line numbers for errors.
(Defaults to on; use --skip-line-numbers to disable.)
-L, --skip-line-numbers
Don't write line number for errors.
-n, --unbuffered Flush buffer after each query.
--column-names Write column names in results.
(Defaults to on; use --skip-column-names to disable.)
-N, --skip-column-names
Don't write column names in results.
--sigint-ignore Ignore SIGINT (CTRL-C).
-o, --one-database Ignore statements except those that occur while the
default database is the one named at the command line.
--pager[=name] Pager to use to display results. If you don't supply an
option, the default pager is taken from your ENV variable
PAGER. Valid pagers are less, more, cat [> filename],
etc. See interactive help (\h) also. This option does not
work in batch mode. Disable with --disable-pager. This
option is disabled by default.
-p, --password[=name]
Password to use when connecting to server. If password is
not given it's asked from the tty.
-P, --port=# Port number to use for connection or 0 for default to, in
order of preference, my.cnf, $MYSQL_TCP_PORT,
/etc/services, built-in default (3306).
--prompt=name Set the mysql prompt to this value.
--protocol=name The protocol to use for connection (tcp, socket, pipe,
memory).
-q, --quick Don't cache result, print it row by row. This may slow
down the server if the output is suspended. Doesn't use
history file.
-r, --raw Write fields without conversion. Used with --batch.
--reconnect Reconnect if the connection is lost. Disable with
--disable-reconnect. This option is enabled by default.

So Jake, any chance of you adding everything missing in this importer from your importer?

The 2 mothods of importing are incompatible, so cut and pasting it in won't work, it would require a whole lot of extra work to add those extras.

If you want to fund it, i'm sure we can come to some accomodation, otherwise no, they won't be added.

Deleting the REPLACE commands worked in a single statement, but I fear, that deleting the REPLACE is not a solution. I asked my host about the problem, but he was not sure, what this is causing.

http://xenforo.com/community/thread...n-3-vbulletin-4-paid.52796/page-5#post-598244

This might have told me that you are working on it, but I'm not sure..

Unfortunately it's a configuration problem with your server, most likely with how it escapes characters.

Theres nothing we can do to "fix" the importer aside from to remove the replace command unless Jake can think of some magic to bypass the problem. I have tested this on clean installs of Centos from 5.5 to 6.4, and it works correctly on all of them.
