Your thoughts on Nihonomaru :)

Well our first public beta has been launched http://www.nihonomaru.com/ and I would like your input if you realize few things that needs to change or enhanced and your overall score. I know we still have several bugs to address here and there and this site is not done in term of features. We still need to code manga and manga reader, social clubs + few more features.

The most complicated aspect was the profile pages, very time consuming, while it is done, there will be few more implemented features in the future.

I am tending to change the header later by removing this huge k-on pic and making the left/right edges more rounded. So the look become more simple and professional other then representing a particular anime.

Not now, in the future. I like xenforo but it isn't ready for me yet. Around a year later, may be it will be better in term of features. I know there are addons and modifications but I like to wait for something to take its course in developments and become complete. So converting my VB now, a year or so later. Buying a xenforo soon for a different purpose, yes.

It's ready for you, you just need a developer to help you out with custom work. You should create a thread in the request forum for help. If I were you I would buy Xenforo and create a private test site. Experiment with it, get your coder to customize it for you further whenever you get stuck or really need something and after sometime you will be hooked.

If you know me, i am a very patient person and usually I like development to take its course. I am not in a hurry. This beta ^ was released after 2 years of development in private and it is not complete yet. Still many work needs to be done.
For me, in my own eyes, xenforo needs roughly 1-2 years to become good for me to use. I also never bought vb 4.x or 5.x because they are rubbish but i like 3.x because it has many development year and many stable modifications and good support.

The answer is here http://xenforo.com/community/threads/anime-website-nihonomaru-xenforo.42348/ I am not converting now, so many xenforo customers are persuading me to do so. It is not fun, it is my choice. Buying it for a different project yes, but converting my vb to xenforo now is NO WAY. I don't jump on the bandwagon that fast like others.

Yes this is the off topic section of the site, but it is intended to be the off topic section for XenForo customers, not for users of other software to get critiques of their site or even support, as was the case with your previous thread related to .htaccess.
