We've all got them, favorite movies, some classics, some not so much, that we absolutely have to own and see over and over again? What are yours, and why?

Mine:
Spaceballs and Robin Hood: Men in Tights - Why? Mel Brooks is just comic genius!
Star Wars (all 6) - Why? Classics, Lucas was years ahead of his time, and is just a genius
Avatar - Why? The wait on this one was well worth it, this is one of those stunning movies that will set the pace for years to come.
Scarface - Why?
Say hello to my little friend!

I'm sure there's more, but those are the ones that I could sit through over and over again (and often do). What're yours?

Revolver

Excellent movie.

imdb - http://imdb.com/title/tt0365686/
wiki - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolver_(film)

It's a movie that you have to watch several times. It is loaded with subtle metaphors and hidden meanings. It speaks to a philosophy about the malevolent person inside of everyone that controls and deceives the host. But this underlying philosophy is framed in the context of a "wise guy" action movie which makes it both fun and thought provoking.

I recommend you watch it once, then read the wiki page for clarification, then watch it a couple more times. When watching this movie you need to treat everything as a metaphore.

I'm a big fan of.....

Drama: Scarface, Godfather I, Godfather II, Goodfellas & Casino :)
Comedy: Airplane, Dumb & Dumber, Old School, Borat & The Office (UK Edition) :)

Ghost, Twister, Amityville Horror, Sleeping With The Enemy, Pretty Woman, Ghostbusters, Star Trek I - VI (with the original cast), Star Wars Trilogy (original cast).
I've seen all of these numerous times, and will again, I'm sure.

You really don't wanna know how large my collection is (dark genre fans tend to accumulate a lot of movies).

Dead Set (Brit mini series), George A Romero's zombie movies, F13th (all of them), Halloween (all of them), anything by John Carpenter, The Omen series, Blade, Evil Dead movies, Mad Max, The Horde, The Changeling (the 1970s movie), The Descent, Triangle, Ring, Session 9, Se7en, the Alien series, etc etc etc

Actually just got sent the link to Dave de Vries' latest short over at youtube, a shaggy dog story that may offend some people. Dave is the dude who directed the multi award winning Indie flick "Carmilla Hyde" Reviewed http://www.scaryminds.com/reviews/2010/movie66.php).

Here's the short, warning mild sex scene

There's honestly a lot of movies that are great views.

Also in no particular order:

* Terminator 2 - best action/sci-fi to this date, and of course Arnie in his best shape/role
* The Matrix - one of the best action/sci-fi films with a unique and exciting story and very good performances
* The Lord of The Rings - best adventure/fantasy from a very talented team both director and actors
* The Godfather - beautifully crafted masterpiece, cream of the crop in cinematography really
* Pulp Fiction - the most creative crime flick and of course Tarantino's best
* The Shawshank Redemption - a very well executed and beautiful drama that is almost flawless
* One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - Jack Nicholson in one of his best roles ever and outstanding performances from almost all others
* Alien - no horror/sci-fi comes close to this, and it's a good suspense/thriller too
* Apocalypse Now - I haven't seen a better war movie yet, which is not surprising with a film from the man who directed The Godfather
* Donnie Darko - one of the weirdest films you'll ever see, but that's what makes it great
* Fight Club - Original, cool, surprising, funny, exciting, bold ... and Norton playing his best role
* The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - another one of those classic almost-flawless films
* There will be blood - Daniel Day-Lewis is one of the most talented actors you'll ever see, and this masterpiece may change your view on life
* Schindler's List - Steven Spielberg is one of the most talented directors ever, and this is without doubt his masterpiece

I still have to see Inception so don't be surprised it hasn't made it into this list. It looks very promising.

Citizen X - The true story of the russian serial killer Andrei Chikatilo, and the investigation hampered by bureaucracy by those in power. Brilliant movie with stephen Rea stealing the show as well as Donald Sutherland (one of my fav actors) giving a great performance. A must see imo.

After looking at the reviews for this one on Amazon I went ahead and bought it. Price was right, and while it's not on BRD (too old, I guess?), it looks like it'd be a decent watch.
