Is there a way or an add-on in XF2 to let users automatically move to a different user group after a certain period of time?

As an example, Member X has not been online for 3 months, so he ll be moved to a different user group.

Yep, you can use the built in usergroup promotions system for this.

/admin.php?user-group-promotions/

Thank you,is there also an option " user had no post since x months (just read the forum),
automatically move him to a different user group.

Follow-up question: What if this user logs back in and posts after they are already a part of this promoted user group. Will XenForo automatically remove the secondary user group (promotion), if this is the criteria that is set?

Ok what i'm about to say is this and it might annoy you some what.
I wouldn't actually demote somebody because they haven't been able to post for days.
I'd actually email them asking them why they're not online.
They might have lives away from the internet other than posting on your forum all day.

I appreciate what you're saying.

But I'm using this more in the context of potential security. Promoting an inactive user to a more restrictive group is a good use-case for this. In my case, I'm not talking about being inactive for a week. I'm talking 180 days. Half a year. That's more than enough time to await a response from a member. I'll be the first to admit, I'm a pack-rat. I have a hard time purging members, because there's always the possibility that they'll pop back on. Placing a dormant user in a demoted group like this also advises other members that, "You probably won't receive a reply from this member".
