XF Dev tutorials 2014 - which order?

Which tutorials do you guys recommend for 1.3 plugin development, and in what order?

I would prefer to start from the basics if possible - but if anyone can suggest, or come up with an up-to-date tut that walks-through a simple plugin from start to finish that would be awesome too.

I know Ruby (and Rails, so know MVC) but I have forgotten the little PHP I knew - so a PHP noob again.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks, I held of going through it last year as Lawrence said it could do with updating:

Although not tested on XF 1.2, I see no reason for it not to be current for 1.2. Even though people still find this tutorial helpful, it should be updated, as I learned a lot more about XF than I did when I wrote it.
