Emoji is a Unicode standard. Regardless of platform, the emoji transmitted is the same. Representation is what differs from platform to platform. And they will work on desktops and browsers that include support for the characters.You need to be aware that iOS emoji are not the same as android and they show up as squares on desktop PC's.
There are multiple libraries that will look after it for you but I've not seen a clean integration.
