XF 2.1 Xenforo requires slash at the end for urls to work?

I noticed that I got a lot of 404's lately, and it appears to be related to a slash at the end of the url.

EG:

• https://testwebsitedontclick/tags/example1
• https://testwebsitedontclick/steam/active-players

While in reality, xenforo2 requires a slash at the end:

• https://testwebsitedontclick/tags/example1/
• https://testwebsitedontclick/steam/active-players/

For the URL to work properly. Any specific reason for this, and anyway I can solve this?

Using nginx btw, with php 7.2 fpm. Friendly URL's enabled.
