Xenforo Modded Into A Fully Functional Dating Site

Is this possible?

Would need: member albums, custom fields, zipcode search, profile stats search, private photos which can be unlocked, etc.

Anyone working on something like this?

I have this as my main project.

It's currently lacking(but i have high expectations). I'm currently struggling getting age based permissions. I mean, I have it working, but there are 2 bugs that need to be squashed.

Also, xenForo lacks custom profile fields(a major loss for this kind of site), but will be introduced in xF 1.1. From there I will set up match-making/search.

I've spent 18 months in school studying male-female relationships and intend to use what I learned there, plus my own ideas, to create custom match-making that will hopefully be better than eHarmony, match.com, and OKcupid.

You have to understand that I'm trying to build a dating site that has everything I can think of. It's site that is not only used for dating or match-making, but for romantic advice for those already in a relationship.

Everything on the site is age-controlled with teens, married folk, seniors, etc, etc, having their own boards to post in. There are even boards that only gays can post in, but there are also public boards.

It has an babynames database(30,000+ names), eCard, arcade, poetry, romantic novelty, erotic novelty, music playlists that have only romantic songs(in each genre), romantic movies listing by genre, and other things hidden from public ATM. It has a amazon store that sells romantic products(or cosmetic), and even an adult toy store. My site even has adult content as well, but not necessarily pornographic. It's full of sex education, info on STD's, and even shows animated sexual positions. It even has paid breast enhancement program, and penis enhancement programs that you can subscribe to. But you must be 18 to see it or subscribe to it.

My goal is to have a all-in-one stop resource for everything romance or for bettering current relationships. Everything is already complete except that I need to add more content, squash the age-group bugs, make a quiz add-on, and add custom profile fields for match-making.

I previously had this site running SMF, and it already had everything I needed and was completely set-up. I switched to xF in hopes that custom profile fields would make it in 1.0, and it didn't happen. I am considering switching back, so we'll see. The only reason I switched away from SMF with this site is because they were in RC stages for 2 years. Yikes...

My site has no traffic, but I'm not worried about it because the back-end isn't finished. I'm negotiating with someone on fixing the age-group thing now. If I can get that fixed, then I may just stick with xF, and add the match-maker part when 1.1 is released next year or so.

As I already mentioned, the match-maker will be the biggest thing. I don't want to go into detail about it, as it will be a surprise, but it'll be the best when I'm done with it.

I am guessing that developers wishing to do something like this will have to wait for a 2.0 version of XenForo.

Couple of key features missing, but nothing that can not be created without a plugin if you have the time and resources. We are also pursuing something like this with XenForo as the backbone.

considering how competitive dating sites are I seriously doubt anyone in their right mind would code a completly free add on with the features that rival okcupid and the like. Sure there are plenty of philanthropist coders here in these forums, but not many coding philanthropists.

Pay someone here and you'll get what you want, and no one else will = it's your market cornered.

With user albums and videos and the ability to lock and unlock pics, Xenforo could easily become a dating mod. Just need the custom profile fields (coming soon), and the ability to search via profile fields, and proximity to zipcode. Then use XenPorta to modify the homepage so it doesn't look like a forum.

Not sure if any developers have taken this up yet but there is a big market for a decent dating site script that actually works.
