Apparently my Xenforo license expire. Do I have to pay the full price to get the updates?

Well, when you go with a paid script, it costs. Promise you that at least one of my other paid forum scripts is more than that every 6 months.
If outside of range of affordability, there are still several good forum scripts out there for free.
myBB, Discourse and Flarum are 3 that come immediately to mind. You also have NodeBB.
