Ok, first of all I'm glad I'm not the only one who has thought Opus X is just Tracy finding a way back here.

Second of all, this is a lot more fun for me than all that Wordpress Drama.

You mean to tell me someone (not really someone since we know who it is) created a "XenForo Help" site and isn't even using XF on that site?

...and then we find out that the 3 guys who started that site are most likely all just the same dude who got banned from here?

...and then he (or they, or whatever) made up a whole thing about getting an email from someone "pretending" to be an XF representative telling them to just hand their domain name over to the XF devs? ...and even if it were true, this person isn't smart enough to determine if that email actually came from XF or not?



Like I said, much more entertaining, at least for me, than that Wordpress crap, which I couldn't care less about.

You think the WordPress drama is bad? No body has seen the XenForo drama?

The bad guys (that are XenForo or one of their representatives) recently sent a cease and desist letter to some random SMF forum named "xenforohelp.com". Because we don't allow the use of the name "XenForo".

This is categorically untrue and clearly inspired by the recent WordPress events and fabricated by someone (we know exactly who it is, by the way) with an axe to grind. Someone who goes to extraordinary lengths to simultaneously be a part of this community by pretending to be someone else because they are no longer welcome here. Which judging by the number of reports we're getting from members here, is the worst kept secret.

They have "proof". We welcome and look forward to them sharing it. It certainly didn't come from us or one of our representatives. Some people have far too much time on their hands.

For the avoidance of doubt, we have no particular issue with people utilising the name "xenforo" in their URLs, or forum names. The only rule is that it shouldn't be an attempt to mislead or deceive to make it look like it's officially affiliated with us.

Anyway, back to the WordPress stuff. Just thought the parallels of this accusation and the WordPress drama were amusing, given that someone with clearly no imagination dreamt it up after seeing all of this.

That post (on the other site) is just stupid.

It's fairly obvious who the author is considering it has been edited numerous times since it was posted, the use of the phrase "pound sand", the reference to anal eze, and the rant about XF developers and add-ons.

So that's at least 2 different pseudonyms now.

Odds are it's one of what the TAZ members used to call XenForo fanbois that worship Xenforo as the email was xenforo_developer@mail.ru.

Yes, that's the exact email I would expect to be sent an email from if XF's legal representatives were going to contact me. No wonder they got confused.

i am in the process of slowing down my interaction on sites due to health concerns.
i am looking at the possibility of leg amputations and really do not have the time to continue the game playing that seems to go on with some, especially when some of them are staff here.
but i am sure that tracy is more than willing to carry on a conversation with some of you.
i was under the understanding that posting staff/moderator messages in a forum were taboo but i guess that does not apply if you stroke the right staff?
that itself tells me a lot.

ultimately am considering selling my site since i do not have the energy to put into it.

To be honest, I don't care to talk to any of y'all, and I'm certainly not interested in joining your site just to talk to Tracy. If y'all think that's because of a lack of fortitude on my part, then Tracy is right. However, I've had plenty of conversations with him on this site and read plenty of others he's had with other members. From what I remember it's either his way, or it's wrong, and there's no convincing him otherwise, and I'm not interested in entertaining that today. I'd guess that's probably what got him banned, the constant negativity and arguing with the devs, but I can only speculate because I don't really know.

Also worth noting that I'm not even the one who brought all this up on this site. I was simply replying to Chris's (and Paul's and Slavik's) message from another thread (see the messages I quoted in my first post). I only created a new thread for it so I wouldn't be derailing the original thread into something it wasn't.

then you have a very limited view.
he has, at least with me, been a strong proponent of xenforo and pushed me from going to another script even when i really wanted to.
he is strongly opinionated and somewhat lacking in manners at times in how he responds, especially during his medical issues, but he still pushes for xenforo.
he said it is, to quote, the script that has the best potential if the developers will ever wake up to what the admins want and not what they as developers want to offer.
but one sees what they want to.
i figured you probably would not be willing to debate the finer aspects of your opinions but figured i would point out where you could.

For a lot of folks, their website(s) are their job, which provides them with their livelihood, therefore is a huge part of their life, no different from anyone with a normal 8-5.

For others their website(s) plays some roll in a hobby of theirs, or something they're very passionate about. Again, a big part of their lives. Everyone needs a hobby.

For me, and I'd guess I'm in the minority, my main website is what I do on the weekends, as entertainment. I could go out on weekends partying, smoking, and drinking with the boys, but I prefer to go out and do what my website is about. That bit of entertainment is a big part of my life, and my entire family is involved, including my wife, kids, nieces, nephews, cousins, and an uncle.

So, yeah, you can try to degrade people who spend a lot of time on their websites but the truth is, for a lot of folks, their site(s) or what their site(s) is/are about is a big part of their lives.

But doesn't he have a legal right to access them with an active license? In other words, isn't XF breaking the terms of the agreement if he's denied that access?
