XF 1.1 Working with permissions

Hi there people!

I have a XenForo 1.1.4 install with some nodes just created. I was experimenting setting permissions to forums but it didn't went ok. What I need is:

Some forums only moderators can create threads but anyone can read and reply to them. One forum both users and moderators can create threads but only moderators can read and reply (users can only view self-create threads and reply to them but not threads created by other users). The other forums everybody can read, reply and create threads. I might also need to differentiate these rules for specific threads inside a forum.

How can I achieve this behavior?

Probably use the private node option so you can specify only allowed permissions:

Admin CP -> Users -> Node Permissions -> [click Permissions for a forum] -> Private node

It seems I managed to do it at least partially. But it's been difficult. The only difficult part I've seen in XenForo up to now.

Jake, one more question. Can I define permissions on a thread basis? I mean, if in a node I revoke the registered users the ability to view threads by others but I want a general rules thread to be visible by everyone, can it be done by defining a permission on this specific thread?
