I run a website, www.GothamHoops.com, currently ran by WordPress. I purchased xenForo earlier today and am looking for how to exactly change the site to a forum-styled site using xenForo.

Any and all support is much appreciated! Thanks very much!

I have moved the thread to the customer support forum.

You will need to associate your forum account with your license before you can post in the customer forums.

You can do so here: http://xenforo.com/customers/forum-users

Can you explain in more detail exactly what it is you're trying to achieve?

Presumably you want to install a forum and have a link to it from your WP site?
If so, create a directory and install the forum there.
Then add a link in your WP menu to the forum URL; for example, http://www.gothamhoops.com/community/

This should help you with installation: http://xenforo.com/help/installation/

I'm trying to make the current site look like the default XenForo theme, as seen in the demo. Where would I go to create a directory? Thanks very much

You create the directory on your server and FTP the files from your computer.

You will need to modify your WP installation if you want to make it match the default XenForo style.

Where is the internal_data folder located?

    In your installation directory.

I've been searching for it and still can't find it. I made the "data" folder writable.

Is there a specific sub-directory in which "internal_data" would be?

No. It's standard in root of your installation. Go back to download area, download it, extract it, when you extracted the file - look inside to see "internal_data" it's in plain sight.
