Wonder what's made NameCheap do this?

Dear Customers, We would like to let you know that on Saturday, 26th of November, mod_userdir module will be disabled on all shared, business and reseller servers. When this module is disabled, you will not be able to check the site using http://server_IP/~cPanel_username link. In order to test the site functionality before changing DNS servers to our hosting ones, you need to edit “hosts” file on your computers. This file is usually located in \\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc directory and can be opened by notepad. You will need to add the following line to it: server_IP_address domain.name ‘server_IP_address’ should be substituted for the server IP address where your domain is hosted on (you can find it in your cPanel or Welcome email) and ‘domain.name’ for the registered domain hosted on this server which content you would like to check. Please note : If you are not admin on the machine, you will not be able to edit hosts and there will be no way for you to check site functionality but update DNS to ours. Best regards, Namecheap, Inc. Hosting Customer Support
