I did not remove the link;
Because I saw this thread.
I know developers want to be recognized in search engines and all; However,
I do not think it is as useful as it used to be. I think google wants your site to
get popular on its own, not by placing forced backlinks at the bottom of the software...
I used to see this a lot in buying sponsored templates, pay a fee, get your link
added to the template, and your template is promoted, boom, you have some
backlinks, but I think google caught onto this type of link spam, and I do
not see as many sponsor templates that I used to see in the past....
In other words, it is not a natural backlink or even an earned one.
I do agree with another poster; 1-2 backlinks maybe acceptable, but
having dozen backlinks is not. I know every author wants his forced
backlink; but for me, allowing that would not be acceptable. I would
like to think that most people would want to keep their site as clean
as possible by not allowing lots of links on the home page, or just giving
your love juice away free of charge for the less deserving. I bought you
dinner when I bought your product, now you want a car payment too?
