XF 2.1 Why do my nodes links have /forums/forums... instead of just /forums in them?

Howdy,

My XF is installed in https://www.twtex.com/forums

I have the Board Info set as follows:

Board URL : https://www.twtex.com/forums
Enable board URL canonicalization: checked
Index page route: blank
Forums default page: forums
Root breadcrumb: home
Homepage URL: https://www.twtex.com/index.html
Use full friendly URLs: checked

So when you go to the main forums page it shows up at https://www.twtex.com/forums

However, ALL of the node links have the "/forums" in there twice, like this,

I don't recall it ever being like this before, but it was just brought to my attention by a user. What the heck have I done!?

The "double" forums may look odd but it is simply your folder name (where XF exists) plus your location as you browse, and you are in a forum node. Read a thread and it will say forums/threads.

The only reason it came up is because a user is trying to associate his YouTube channel to a specific node for the Google search Console, but because the extra "/forums" is in the node link, the GSC thinks it is a different property, not included in the https://www.twtex.com/ or https://www.twtex.com/forums/ properties.

Brogan, if I were to attempt moving XF to the top level directory of my domain, how would I do that? Wouldn't that screw up all my existing links?

I've been wanting to do a portal page, but I recall seeing you comment in another thread about that where you said you could not use the XF page system to create a page that resides outside of the XF directory structure. So regardless of the issue with the user trying to associate his YT channel, I'd like to move the forum up one level so I could do the portal page.
