Why are some features of the forum pulled from xenforo.net?

I'm just curious as to why some portions of xenforo.com are pulled from xenforo.net, such as avatars and java script. The reason I ask is because work decided to block xenforo.net and it kind of ruins the whole experience....

Maybe they're using a cookie-less domain?
