Where on earth do I find a hosting company that is small and hosted entirely in the US?

You seem way too serious about this.

It's a common complaint that Namecheap is oversold garbage and really has nothing to do with me (previously) being an AWS consultant. Heck you even dug up a post where I disclose that I am one when I was discussing AWS. Thanks for that!

Back on topic, I still say to stay away from the NameCheap and GoDaddy ilk. There are hosting providers here that can almost certainly help.

The OP never wanted a large provider anyways, and the title of the thread specifies small host with US support only... 🤦‍♂️

No they don't over sell.
They aren't expensive at all.
even i know they oversell.
and their being cheap is one of the big red flags.
most sites from my research that are cheap make it up in numbers.
that means they sell more than what is best.
i was told to visit the web hosting talk and i could learn a lot.
i have and have learned quite a bit.
maybe you should do the same?
i am in process of figuring out where to move my site as i use a friends server and take up his resources.

I agree. Here I am paying $500 a month or so for a dedicated server and the guys who are "managing" it are seldom ever to be found. They respond slow (likely because they are on India time) and the customer support went from once good to suddenly ****ty.

I'm very happy with the service of a relatively small US provider - and they respond to tickets within minutes (with an actual solution) even though my time zone is completely different.

The problem you've described is one of quality, not of location.

The provider doesn't rent dedicated servers as far as I know, so can't help you with that. For what it's worth, based on the info and feedback I got, I would consider Knownhost for renting a dedicated server - but haven't used the service so take that with a grain of salt.

I've used Liquid Web, Hivelocity, and Knownhost.

They are all US based hosting companies. The first two are big. KnownHost seems to be smaller, but they are just as good as the big boys.

I've been very happy since AndyB recommended them. Their support is out of Birmingham, Alabama and I think they might be headquartered in south Florida.

If you want small and USA based, then I'd say go for KnownHost. Their managed VPS is very good for the fraction of the cost for a managed dedicated server. JMHO. :thumbup

They help resolve the problem and don't talk down to you if you are not strong on the technical side of things.

I hope that helps.

I'm so damn sick of these hosting companies.

Anytime I find a good one (in this case it was Liquid Web) they eventually outsource the entire customer service department to India. Happens every single time.

I need a hosting company that is U.S. based, small enough that when I call or email I can get ahold of someone who speaks full, fluent English as a first language and responds in a timely manner.

I am so sick of having my server go down (a dedicated server by the way) and then having them take hours to get it back up.

This is driving me absolutely bonkers and it seems to be the case every single time with these bigger hosting companies. If they start out as good, eventually some bigger company buys them out and that's when things go down hill. That's the case with Liquid Web now (who used to be good).

Any recommendations are appreciated.
Highly recommend https://www.wswd.net/ Solid US host and great customer support
