What percentage of Support is handled in tickets vs. support forums ?

What are the factors that predict when a ticket gets used (vs. just the forums) ?
- more serious problems are handled via a ticket ?
- some people will only use tickets ?
Are most things handled in the forums ?
I am mostly asking this because I was thinking about information about solving problems with Xenforo.
If a problem is solved via a ticket .... the information is not available for assisting other members.
